What to Believe
While reading Amusing Ourselves to Death, I came across Postman's views on the truth. In this society it is extremely difficult to believe what is true, and what is false. Though some may think about photo shop and how the model in the picture does not even look like the model in the picture, it goes to a greater extent. The media greatly affects our perception on the truth because we define truth through which we receive it. How can we properly formulate the truth when our culture has adapted to the misleading information we receive daily? We are disconnecting from factual , just so we can entertain the masses. It's ironic how the media is the one that is supposed to be our source of communication and information, yet they are the ones who are filtering this information. But I guess apparently in this society, as long as it's entertaining, it is fine. Feel free to comment what you think.

People in our society have become blind to what they believe is altering of the truth and ignorance plays a big part in it. Those who do notice are usually content with what they notice about altered truth because the same people that complain about how fake a celebrity looks in a magazine are the same people who admire their looks and would not notice them if they were not portrayed the way they were. Photoshop is a way of slightly altering what our minds would reject with a visual encounter. Since our time is so focused on what is perceived visually, to be able for some people to give a point, they must improve their physical appearance for the sake of getting attention towards the issues they have considered of importance. It is ironic that media must work to censor as its purpose was meant for the opposite. With that being said, some forms of censorship with good intentions may be seen as corrupted while merely trying to conform to the ways of the public's minds.
