Lately, I've seen social media activism, especially twitter, receive negative and positive reviews.  Some critique this form of activism saying one doesn't really do anything, just use hashtags and click retweet on pictures and tweets, talking about a certain social issue.Others praise it arguing it helps people come together to find solutions for the issue. As I am writing this, people are using the social media to talk about Ferguson and the Gaza Ukraine situation.

Right now, teenagers and adults all over the world, from different backgrounds, have the power to voice their opinions with tweets.  They form well structured arguments using the 140 characters provided to fill. The use of social media to bring social change is extremely important.  It allows people to bring attention to certain topics causing people outside the Internet to take action.

However, sometimes the power to voice opinions is abused.Some twitter users use the opportunity of freedom of speech to spread their own ignorance to others. And others pretend to care when in reality they don't.

Although not much can really be done on the Internet, reading the tweets people write inspire others to want to take action and fix the problems of the world. I believe it allows for young people to grow up and want to bring upon social change. Not only that, but it improves the skill of writing one's opinions into clear arguments.
