So far Mindset by Carol S. Dweck is an okay book. From my understanding, Dweck states that there are two types of mindsets, the fixed mindset and the growth mindset. If one has a fixed mindset they don't accept failure and don't see it as experience. If one has a growth mindset, they accept failure and allow it to make new goals.
In my honest opinion, Dweck seems to have a big bias towards the growth mindset. She makes it seem as if it's better than the fixed mindset. She doesn't point out the benefits of the fixed mindset and the unbeneficial factors of the growth mindset. As an addition she is extremely repetitive. Se basically states her theory about the mindsets and apply it to various examples throughout the book.
This is very interesting Keone. I do believe that the secondary mindset that Dweck talks about may be superior because it it's more open ended and allows for growth psychologically. This relates to my book The Happiness Advantage because it dives into the realm of mindsets and thought processes. Personally you're blog has made me curious to as what the benefits of the fixed mindset are. My book doesn't cover that area as well.
